Finally, it is done….My first patch is now attached to bugzilla and can be found here (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=417153&action=edit). It is the patch for my mini project. Although it was done a long time ago, I had some problems with my ubuntu which lead to losing all the work, which was catastrophic. The bug was about adding some flexibility to add a contact whose display name is already present in the address book, by providing the user with the options to either add it as a completely new contact, or update the contact with similar display name. So, I provided a new panel for adding these options. You can all try it and tell me your comments about the design. Finally, I am glad I did something I consider useful, so thanks for the experience.

Building Thunderbird >> A terrible experience

Finally, Thunderbird is built successfuly on my machine, after facing a lot of terrible problems which lead to even reinstalling ubuntu allover again. At first, I tried several times to follow the tutorial on GOSC, beside making use of others’ useful blogs (which were very benefitial). Everything seemed to be working, with no problems at all. However, the source missed the executables, which means that the build was incomplete. It was a matter of space, the thing that took me too much time to realize. After fixing this problem by repartitioning, I started allover again and followed the steps from scratch. However the newly installed ubuntu missed a lot of packages (not included in the steps), the thing that lead to stopping the build for several times. I had to search for each package and install it before starting the build again. Finally, the build did succeed but using a debug build, which required 2 gb of space. I hope the project will lack such terrible issues, and everything would go fine for all.

Hello everyone,

It is supposed to use Bespin as an editor in order to deal with the processing.js visualization. I did install Bespin locally as supposed, however, I do not know how to use its editor in order to work on the visualization code. An alternative way suggested by a friend is to put all the files in one directory and simply link from the HTML file. Any ideas about how to deal with Bespin?? Which method is better??

Hello all,

This is my first time blogging, hoping not to be the last. It is not an easy issue to start working on a totally new technology, however, it is quite interesting. During the 8 or 9 weeks period of the course, we are getting to know some several programming technologies, with the technique of the open source. I installed ubuntu just 2 days ago, and it took me some time to get familiar with the commands as I was never a linux user. Finally, I hope things would go fine for all of us.
